On-Demand Webinar: Protecting Your Practice from Unfair Payment Practices

Updated: Apr 2

For more than 20 years, California physicians have been protected by laws that prohibit health plans and insurers from engaging in unfair payment practices. These protections stem from state legislation—AB 1455 (2000) and SB 367 (2005)—which outline standards for prompt payment, dispute resolution, and fair claims processing.

However, the success of these laws relies heavily on awareness. Physicians and their staff must recognize when payment practices cross the line and know how to respond when they do.

A recent webinar, “Know Your Rights: How to Protect Your Practice from Unfair Payment Practices,” offers a clear overview of the laws in place, practical guidance on how to identify and address violations, and steps practices can take to advocate for fair treatment.

The webinar is available for on-demand viewing and is free for members of the California Medical Association and their staff, and available for $99 to nonmembers. Staff of CMA members can email events@cmadocs.org to request a promo code for complimentary access.

For those navigating the complex world of health plan reimbursements, this resource provides helpful tools and insights to safeguard your practice’s financial health.
